What is Whiteboard

Whiteboard is a visual and digital tool that can be used by both teachers and students for collaborative tasks or activities. The tool is an online bulletin board and it can be used widely – from supporting creative study activities such as brainstorming and discussion, to more defined activities such as quizzes and problem solving.

Pedagogical advantages

Whiteboard is a collaboration tool where both teachers and students can interact at the same time. Therefore, the possibilities for how Whiteboard can be used in a teaching context are many. You can use Whiteboard before your lessons to gain insight into the students' understanding of the teaching material, and you can use these reflections to make your teachings targeted to the students' needs. Whiteboard can also be used in the teaching situations itself and can help to engage the students in the class.

You may know that it can be difficult to follow the student discussions in groups. To get a better understanding, you can use Whiteboard as a dialogue tool, where the students can share the main points from their discussion. Whiteboard can also be used for evaluation of the lessons and in addition, Whiteboard gives the opportunity for the students to ask the teacher questions during and after the lessons. Thus, Whiteboard provides the opportunity to extend the dialogue between the students and the educator.
